Adults for Adoption: Must be picked up in person. I need to make sure it's a good fit for them and you. I will not ship price depends on age of dog some get retired early 1-4 years old, because of size health or temperament. and we feel they would make a better pet. *Not all dogs make good parents.
Every now and then, I see the question come up about whether it's ethical to place a retired breeding dog.
I completely understand why, from the outside looking in, someone might struggle with the idea. it can sound like a breeder is simply " getting rid of" a dog once they are finished breeding. But that isn't what retirement means to a responsible breeder.
My dogs are loved throughout their entire lives. They are not loved only while they are producing puppies. They are family, and that doesn't change when their breeding career ends.
But sometimes, retirement can open the door to something incredibility special for them. I have received messages and updates from families who have welcomed one of my retired dogs into their homes. While that dog may have been happy and very loved living here with me, they now have something different - a family of their very own.
Sometimes they become an only dog. sometimes they get to sleep beside their person every night, spend their days being spoiled, and have all of that family's attention focused on them.
And i have to tell you .... different doesn't mean worse. it's simply different.
They were loved here.
They continue to be loved there.
The hardest part is letting them go
I cry. Every time.
I miss them terribly, and i look forward to those birthday pictures, gotcha day" celebrations Christmas updates, and those unexpected messages that come months or even years later.
But then i see them.
I see why their families adore them.I see how happy they are. I see them being spoiled rotten and treated like the most important little dog in the world.
And I am incredibly grateful that some of my retired dogs have been blessed with families who love them just as fiercely as I did.
